…or in the last 4 years, depending on your perspective.
Friends, I got 99 problems but getting book reviews ain’t one. (And yes, this entire post is one big humblebrag, but hopefully a helpful one.)
24 hours ago I launched my new book, at $0.99. It’s got a crazy-long title, are you ready for it?
This is the first time I’ve launched a book at .99 instead of free. Think that was smart (thanks Steve Scott)—currently #2,381 in PAID Kindle store and I haven’t started promoting it yet.
OK, OK, so back to the reviews. How did I get ‘em?
FIRST, I put together a Street Team of over 200 people. Click here to learn how to do this.
SECOND, I spent $50 on Book Razor to get and contact a list of Amazon reviewers of similar books to mine. See how I did that, click here.
THIRD, I reached out to 34 authors who I left reviews for in the past. (IMPORTANT: This is NOT a review swap. That feels icky and is against Amazon’s TOS.) It’s just that whenever I see an author who I like, release a book in a topic I’m interested, I buy the book, leave a review, and let them know. That’s it. Then if and when I ever release another book, I go back to that list and say, hey, you probably don’t remember me but I read, enjoyed and reviewed your book called TITLE. Any chance you’d be interested in an advance review copy of my forthcoming book? That’s it.
Those three things got me 97 reviews on the first day of launch.
Or did it take me four years?
The reason why it’s more accurate to say it took me four years, is because that’s how long I’ve been trying to provide value to others, to improve my craft as a writer, to learn the business side of writing by reading Pat’s First Kindle Book group EVERY SINGLE DAY, to answer in-bound emails for an HOUR A DAY from strangers EVERY SINGLE DAY, etc.
Yes, the last 24 hours have been great. But they came as a result of just being patient, being helpful, and doing the work.
Again, it would be a BIG help if you could grab a .99 copy of my new book and OF COURSE if you like I hope you’ll take 30 seconds to jot a 2-3 sentence honest review.
