The Out Of Office Trick To Promote Your Book

How can you automatically notify dozens or even hundreds of people about your book(s) each and every day?

Simple. Turn on your “out of office” email autoresponder (sometimes called the “Vacation Responder”) and write a friendly message that just so happens to tell people about your book.

For example, to support the launch of my new book, 15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management, I let people know that it would take me longer than usual to respond to their email since I was doing book promotion stuff.

I tried to keep it friendly (or at least cheeky) and I put a straight out call to action in the PS line. PS lines make the hard sell go down softer as if it were an afterthought, but direct marketers know that the PS line is the second most frequently read part of a letter (the headline or salutation being #1).

My subject line read: “I have good news and bad news”.

The body copy read:

Thanks for sending me an email, but I have good news and bad news…

The good news is that I just launched my new book, 15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management. Yep, I interviewed Mark Cuban and a bunch of other billionaires, self-made millionaires, Olympic athletes, and over 200 entrepreneurs and forced them to cough up their secret productivity habits. How DO they achieve so much more than average folks?
